The Event On Saturday evening, November 4, 2000, over 130 guests gathered for the Gay and Lesbian Fund for Dallas's first event, Noche de Gala, at The Trammell & Margaret Crow Collection of Asian Art in Dallas. At Noche de Gala, the Gay and Lesbian Fund for Dallas raised $75,000, with all proceeds going to benefit the City of Dallas's new Latino Cultural Center. The evening cocktail event featured several local Latino artists, including the Anita N. Martinez Ballet Folklorico, the Daniel de Cordoba Bailes Espanoles, and classical guitarist Armando Monsivais. Also featured was special guest Graciela Sanchez, Executive Director of the Esperanza Center in San Antonio. The evening's keynote speaker was Tim Gill, Founder and former Chairman of Quark, Inc., and Founder and Chairman of the Gill Foundation.
